Over-The-Road Drivers

OTR drivers go out five days, and then come home for 48 hours every weekend. We service the Mid-Atlantic area from North Carolina to New York (no NYC). Drivers do pickup and delivery, drop and hook, and terminal-to-terminal runs. Drivers have assigned conventional tractors that are serviced frequently. Company benefits include Anthem health insurance with low weekly cost, six paid holidays per year, increasing amounts of vacation beginning after a year of service, company paid profit sharing retirement plan, 401K, and company paid life insurance. OTR drivers will earn $60,000-$70,000 a year, and can make additional money with safety bonuses. Houff Transfer also has a scholarship program for employees with children in higher education and a weight loss incentive program to encourage healthy living.

Houff Transfer is looking for the best drivers available. We want drivers who are customer service oriented. We want drivers who take pride in their appearance, their work, their equipment, and their company. We know that the person who is at our customer's docks is the person who represents our company. We are looking for well-seasoned professional drivers who want to be a part of a company known for outstanding customer service, safety, and reliability.

Well qualified drivers will have five+ years of driving experience, with two or more years of OTR driving. Hazmat endorsement is required, and a TWIC card is a plus. No criminal history, failed drug tests, or DUI's in the last ten years. You need to have an excellent driving record. A stable work history over the last five years is desirable. A good knowledge of the Mid-Atlantic geographic area is needed as well as experience with sliding tandems on trailers to adjust weights.

Owner-Operators

Owner-operators need to have the same qualifications as over-the-road drivers. Houff Transfer issues EZ Pass to pay for tolls, and pays for license and tags for equipment, and pays fuel taxes.  Equipment should be 2006 or newer and will need to be brought to our Weyers Cave truck shop to pass a rigorous safety inspection. Part-Time Drivers

Part-time drivers run weekends, weekdays, or whenever they would like. We have multiple openings and are looking for the best part-time drivers available who are highly experienced at customer service and have a history of the safe and efficient operation of road tractors pulling 53-foot trailers. Part-time drivers can run one day a week or five days a week, whichever days you choose. We have plenty of work. We service the Mid-Atlantic area from North Carolina to New York (no NYC). Part-time drivers normally run within a 200 miles radius of Weyers Cave, Va., and return to the Weyers Cave terminal each day. Part-time drivers who choose overnight runs have the opportunity to make even more money. Drivers will do pickup and delivery, drop and hook, and terminal-to-terminal runs. Drivers operate well-maintained conventional tractors that are serviced weekly at the Weyers Cave terminal.

Qualified drivers will have five+ years of driving experience, with two or more years of OTR driving. Drivers should have had some recent driving work within the previous year. Hazmat endorsement is not required, but is highly preferred. Drivers with hazmat endorsement are paid at a higher mileage rate. No criminal history or DUI's. You need to have an excellent driving record. A stable work history over the last five years is desirable. Knowledge of the Mid-Atlantic geographic area is needed, as well as experience with sliding tandems to adjust trailer weights.

Step 2: We will need the following documents;
- a copy of your driving record from the DMV
- a copy of your physical (the long form is preferred, but we can accept your physical card);
- a signed release of inquiry to previous employers. You can print a copy of the release here. Just sign the release at the bottom. (We don't contact your present employer unless we speak to you.)

Step 3:
Forward the above documents in step 2 to the human resource department by; dropping them off at any Houff terminal, mailing them to HR Department, PO Box 220, Weyers Cave Va 24486, emailing them to edm@houff.com, or faxing them to 540-234-9659.
