(December 1998)
On November 12, 1998, Chris Garrison got off the school bus in the 3500 block of Mike Road behind the Richmond Terminal when he heard tires screeching form around the corner. The next thing the young boy remembers was being pinned beneath the tires of the Automobile and hearing voices.
A 14 year old has been charged driving without a license and reckless driving. Conner, Morton, and Hahn were at the Fuel Island fueling their trucks when they heard what sounded like a car accident. Without hesitation they rushed to the scene to see if they could help. When they got there they saw 9 year Chris pinned beneath the car. The men lifted the car off of Chris and waited for the paramedics. The boy suffered numerous internal injuries, as well as a broken pelvis and leg.
The men's chivalry did not stop there, to ensure that he would have a special Christmas the men took up a collection. Gift Certificates from several local businesses and donations totaling over $1000 were gathered in addition to a bicycle, video games, and Dallas Cowboy items.
On December 11, 1998 The men went to MCV Hospital to take Christmas to him. Chris's eyes lit up as he was wheeled into the 7th floor lobby where the presents were displayed.
"Thank you for helping me." Chris told the men. "Because if you didn't I think I would have died."
The men stated that they were just glad they were able to help the youngster.
"This is a special Christmas, just knowing that he's going to be OK makes the holidays better." quoted Jeff Conner.
